We took Azariah to her 9 month appt. yesterday; I can't believe how time is flying by! She weighed 15lb 4oz! She's in the 5th percentile! She's a little peanut! She's also really anemic, so we have to give her iron drops. Her Dr. said to give her some fatty rich foods too. I was thinking after we left, what kind of fatty rich foods can you give a baby? So, please give me any suggestions on iron and fatty rich foods that can be given to a 9 month old. Other than that she is perfect! She is so happy, all the time! We are so in love with her! Here are some pictures, some have already been posted...sorry.

She is so big!!!
We have a hard time with the iron thing too because Judah really REALLY does not like meat (because of the texture I think). But meat is the best source of iron- iron is better absorbed in the body or assimilated when it is from an animal source vs. a plant source, but plant sources are still good, of course. Beef is the best source animal wise, but beans are really high and spinach is really high too. Some tofu has high iron content, if she will eat that- since it is soft. But if you keep giving her iron fortified cereal that is a decent source. We still mix in the oat/rice/barley cereal in Judah's yogurt and things like that. I think the best source is supposed to be liver, but EW I am not going to even try and make my kid eat that :) That is close to child abuse :) haha
Wow! 9 months! She is a little peanut, but so precious. Have you tried giving her some small (soft) pieces of avocado? Those are loaded with good fats. Whole-milk yogurt mixed with some baby cereal would also do the trick. Give her some (diluted) juice with it, because the citric acid will help her absorb the iron. Heather had some great suggestions. Chicken is also an iron-rich food, as is dark green veggies. You could steam some broccolli and put it in one of those handheld sieve things you have (we do this for Kathyrn, and she loves the stuff!)...so she could get the nutrients out without choking on the fibers of the broc. Hope this helps!
