After a month of waiting to get into see the neurologist, we finally got to see her! She was a very nice Dr in Reno. She diagnosed Azariah with having Breath Holding Spells. She said that she sees it in a lot of kids. Its a reflex Azariah has that makes her pass out. When she passes out a part of her brain makes her stiffen up, which "looks" like a seizure, but is not. The bad thing to do when this happens is pick her up, then she is in an upright position. And instinctively as a parent, this is what we've been doing. When she starts to do it, we need to lay for on her back, so her blood flow can get to her brain quicker. She said its almost like an adult that passes out easily, like by the sight of blood. Its a reflex that she has and she will continue to do it probably until about 5 or 6yr old. The Dr said that when she does it, we don't need to take her to the Dr, there's nothing that they can do about it, or nothing we can really do to prevent it. What triggers it is crying, pain, being startled, a traumatic event, being sick. Azariahs case in three of her episodes was falling, and pain, and another one was being sick and crying. There's a lot of info if you Google Breath holding spells. We also read that children with iron deficiency anemia may also have increased episodes of breath holding; which Azariah has been anemic in the past. Its a relief to know that nothing serious is going on with our little girl, but its still going to be scary watching her do this. The Dr assured us that its ok and we can come back to see her anytime. Thank you to all who have been praying for her. She's definitely our little miracle baby. Thank you Lord for having control over our family and for letting us have the most amazing kids in our lives!

I'm so glad that the doctor knew what is going on! It's good news that she doesn't need surgery or medication - but I hope that the episodes don't last quite as long as the doctor was saying. Thanks for keeping us updated!
Such wonderful news!
WOW!!! Praise the Lord for His Goodness and Mercy.
This is great news. I know the breath holding reflex incidents will still be scarry, but it is good to know she will be okay and that she will grow out of them. Thank you Lord for the health of Azariah and the blessing of Josiah! God give Kalyn and Marcus strength and blessings!
